About Solar Energy

Silicon Division

The Silicon Division operations include production of Trichlorosilane (TCS), key raw material used in the widely-adopted Siemens polysilicon production, and Polysilicon (PCS) production. Following comprehensive modernization of its existing TCS production facility, which has an operational history extending back 1974, the Group commissioned and commenced operation of a 10,000 MT per year solar-grade TCS production facility in January 2007 and began selling solar-grade TCS in March 2007. The Group is currently constructing an additional solar-grade TCS capacity of 15,000 MT per year, which it expects to become operational in 2009.

The Group is developing its polysilicon project in phases. In the beginning of 2008, Nitol Solar successfully produced its first industrial batch of Polysilicon. The 3,800 MT production facility is expected to become fully operational in 2010. Analysis of the product samples testing conducted by both an independent laboratory and the clients indicated that the quality of the tested polycrystalline silicon complies with the requirements for further utilization in the manufacture of solar wafers.
